WHO WE ARE

The Untermyer Performing Arts Council is a voluntary not-for-profit organization whose purpose has been for over twenty-five year to promote the appreciation of the performing arts in Yonkers and the surrounding areas and in particular, to foster and sponsor programs for and in Untermyer Park. The council is committed to securing quality programs for citizens who attend the Summer Concert Series in Untermyer Park and other events through-
out the year.

Our organization depends on individuals and corporations to help fund these free events. The Arts Council has grown dramatically during its 25 years of arranging admission-free events during the summer. In the past few years, they have collaborated with the Westchester Arts Council to present the largest Cinco de Mayo Celebration in Westchester County, continue to provide walking tours lectures of Untermyer Park and Gardens, conduct a toy drive for Leake Watts Foster Care children each year, maintain a community garden at the park and featured special holiday cultural events such as "Halloween Around the World & a special Irish concerts in March. In addition, the Arts Council provides the annual O'Conner scholarship to a high school student excelling in the performing arts. Local and international performers continue to seek out the Arts Council to perform during the summer providing the highest artistic talent that educates and entertains, and where possible, relates to the history of the park. Past groups such as Desna Ukrainian Dance Company of Toronto, Lori Belilove, and the Isadora Duncan Dance Company, Thalia Spanish Theatre, The Aloha Paradise Review, Cherish the Ladies, The Zig Zag Ballet, among others have provided such entertainment. Pre-concert events have included display, tours, and activities.
